The List

of the distorted intelligence this administration (hswib) used to get our soldiers killed. As the weight of this ignominy begins to bear down I expect to see resignations at the top prior to the 2008 elections. Republicans will be forced to act against the President if they want to retain any chance at the polls.

You might think they'd have to "act against" Bush, but don't underestimate the so-called honorables' fear of Bush's hard-core, far-right base, plus his corps of open-handed corporate fatcats and lobbyists.

If you're a far-right, heretorfore lockstep-marching member of Congress, you've got nowhere to run, nowhere to hide in the face of a drastic change of voting preference by a large number of PO'd moderates and independents.

Look for many of them to seek refuge in finessing a tight situation. Things like being extra-special attentive to constituent services and bringing good things to their districts, all the while doing their best while in their districts to look and sound more moderate and less like a wingnut.

I don't see an e-mail address here, so I'll misuse the comment facility to leave a suggestion (feel free to delete after reading).

Kendall, you ought to consider making your "Into the Breach" header a live link or else find a "breadcrumbs" utility, so after leaving a comment a reader can get back to the main, current page and continue reading if they want to. Unless I'm missing something incredibly ovious (known to happen now and then), I'm kind of trapped here unless I go through the Bookmarks menus.

If you venture a visit to my Oh!pinion weblog, leave a comment, or at least go through the motions, you'll see at the bottom a line of link choices, the first one of which is "Home." This is handy for visitors to get back to the main page.

Cheers and happy Thanksgiving.
